In top-level tennis, the return of a good wide-serve from the deuce side is usually played cross-court or neutral through the middle. Their primary goal: to steal the server the opportunity to get on the offensive. After that, the court must be covered quickly.

Advice for the practice court

Simply recreate this situation, either serving as a coach and replaying the second ball from the hand or distributing the tasks completely among the players. Make sure that the returner pushes off explosively in order to cover the court well and get a chance for a forehand.
