This is a great drill to work on footwork and can be used as a warm up, as a way to strengthen or as a tool to improve the anaerobic capacity of a player. A bouncing medicine ball is ideall for many drills requiring catching and throwing.

Starting Position:
The player starts in the middle of the court. The coach throws the medicine ball to the forehand or backhand.  The athlet lets it bounce catches it stabilizing its weight, sets up and throws it back to the coach using a rotational motion.

Coaching Keys:
Look for a fluid catching and throwing transition.  Make sure th upper body is stable and erect and that the player is using rotation to throw.  Arms should be mostly straight, and parallel to the ground,

The whole body should be used from the legs to the arms.
