Using Straight-Legged Jumps from a Box and Cones to Improve the Serve
The player will alternate jumping down from a box with stiff legs and using mostly the ankles, with serves over a cone barrier emphasizing the use of an explosive jump when serving.
The cones shown in the video are ideal for this drill. They are the right height and if the player lands on them, they will collapse.
Load and Frequency:
The player should try to jump as soon as possible after landing minimizing the ground contact time. The player should jump as high as possible 3 to 5 times before serving and then try to do the same while serving 3 to 5 times. The whole process should be repeated 4 to 6 times.
